Sailing tuition

Are you working towards RYA accreditation? Thinking about booking a bare-boat charter holiday? Buying a yacht of your own? Rival Sailing can help you out with informal sailing tuition tailored to suit you.

You can book informal sailing lessons on board Rival 41 sail training yacht East End Endeavour (up to 5 people) or else opt for own-boat sailing tuition (up to 3 people). We’ll help you brush up on the areas you choose to focus on, from practical boat handling skills to putting sailing theory into practice. For example:

  • Steering and berthing
  • Pontoon practice and rope work
  • Mooring and anchoring
  • Points of sail and sail handling
  • Navigation – chart and electronic
  • Planning a passage
  • Plotting, estimating and fixing positions
  • Tidal work
  • Rules of the Road, e.g steering and sailing, buoys and marks, lights and sound signals

  • Safety procedures, including man overboard (MOB) recovery drill

We can also provide practical advice relating to on-board hygiene and safety procedures, maintenance, and boat-owning in general! Contact us to discuss dates and sailing tuition options – we’ll work with you to make sure you get the most out of your informal instruction.
